Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition Services

Here at RockRiver Expeditions we tailor our expedition services to the needs and wants of your group or centre. Our programme focuses on the three main areas of expedition preparation taking you through the whole expedition process

Training Day/Weekend
Depending upon your requirements we run either a training day or weekend with sessions that cover expedition food, suitable clothing, how to pack a rucksack, first aid, navigation, planning a route, campcraft, safe use of stoves etc.  The participants will camp for one night – camping fees are included.

Practice Expedition
Once the pre-expedition training has taken place, we then hold the practice expedition.  Groups (max of 7 participants) will have one of our Associate Leaders with them on the first day to instruct them ensuring their navigation is up to the required standard.  On the second day they will be remotely supervised – the level of remoteness will depend on their abilities as determined by the Leader.

Qualifying Expedition
Once the participants have completed both the pre-expedition training and practice expedition they can then move onto the qualifier expedition.  The groups will walk and camp independently, and we have a number of Associate Leaders and of course the assessor at various checkpoints on route to monitor the participants progress.

We can include extra training or practice expeditions for groups with limited experience.
